Elk question
Do elk stay in the same place this time of the year or do they move around a bunch? I have a tag for the whole month and was wondering if the elk would be in the general area they were a couple a days ago or if they move a bunch. Thanks Robert

Re: Elk question
Robert...Unless there is some reason for them to move ie. adverse weather, new source of forage, predators (including you) repeatedly spooking them, they shouldn't move far. Of course all this depends upon your definition of "a bunch".

Re: Elk question
Thanks for the help. I saw a few but could not get a shot off. I saw plenty of tracks which made me think there were lots of animals but I am not sure. The elk were high for the coast range allmost 2000 feet. Generally speaking how much snow does it take for them to move down? Thanks in ahead.

Re: Elk question
It will take a whole lot 3 + feet of snow or a good storm to get them down low. At 2000 feet I would think they won't much execpt for what BuKu mentioned. Good luck on your hunt and be safe. Keep us posted.

Re: Elk question
With these new and relatively warm series of storms forecast for the next week or so, I don't think that the snow will last long nor is there a chance for any significant accumulation.

Re: Elk question
The elk on the coast hate snow. 2" is plenty to get them to move down the mountain. But the window may be short, since it can all melt in a short period of time. Of you are there the day after it snowed, get below the snow level, or hunt where the snow is lightest.

Re: Elk question
Hey Robert, those elk may jump around between a few clearcuts but, unless they are really harassed, they'll basically stay in the general area. They may go to one clearcut for a few days, then a different one for a few days and another and then back to the original one. Sort of depends on how many clearcuts, how many animals and how much they are harassed as to how much they will move around. A bit of snow won't make them flinch. I personally think they prefer it to rain, wouldn't you?
Also, my buddy already got his elk on this hunt so if you want to call me about where to hunt, please fell free. Email me first as I don't want to put my phone number out public like this.
Thanks,
