Me and a couple of guys from work decided to take the afternoon off and head to the fishery to try our luck at some salmon, shad, and oversized. As luck had it, we hooked into all three.
It was a nice day on the river...sunny and no wind...with good conversation. As we were talking, my buddy's rod goes off and we think SALMON! He sets the hook and instantly knows its a hog. He ends up fighting this monster fish for 10 min, without seeing it, and starts to think something is odd. After another 5 min, the monster starts heading for the surface and out jumps a 11-12' sturgeon. HOLY CRAP
!!! We ended up motoring over to the area the monster was in to get as much line back so we could cut it. I have heard the stories, but this was the first time I've seen a sturgeon take a spinner.
Even though that had to be the most exciting part of the fishing trip, I ended up coming home with this piggy! 28 lbs of bright shiny chrome.
She was caught on a spinner as well.
