Re: Tulley The Chessie Broke her leg on Christmas
Tully - It could always be worse. The expression on your dog's face looks a lot like my expression monday morning after taking my 12-yr-old choc lab Odell into town for his final visit to the veternarian's office. Major bummer. :depressed: :depressed: :depressed:
He dislocated his rt. hip in September. Hopped around on 3 legs OK until Xmas day when he fell down the hill and apparently hurt the hip some more. Quit eating. Took him in monday and the vet said he had a big bone cancer tumor at the hip, he was probably in pain (no appetite), and it was time for him to go. :depressed: :depressed: :depressed:

Re: Tulley The Chessie Broke her leg on Christmas
Sorry to hear about your dogs. Chessie's are pretty tough and they don't break bones very often. They're also tough enough to heal pretty quickly and pretty well. I hope it was a clean break and that you'll see him back to full steam before long.
GSA, really, really sorry to hear about Odell. Twelve years can pack a lot of living (and caring) into a person's life - and can leave a big hole when they're not there anymore. You're probably going to think, "I don't know if I want to start another pup at my age," but nothing takes the emptiness away like getting involved with another one just like Odell (only different, of course). If your other dreams fall into place, you'll need a dog to keep you on course.
I know how I treasure my dog, and I can't be in your shoes, but I can feel for you. Take care, you guys.

Its hard to see them like this wish they could talk so you know what to do for them. Good luck Tulley 6 weeks will fly bye. Hang in there Gut Shot Odell is in a better place now Go get you a new puppy and let the fun start again.

Re: Tulley The Chessie Broke her leg on Christmas
GSA,
Sorry to hear such bad dog news. This year was the first Dec in three in a row that we did not making the final trip to the vet.
Tulley,
Hope for a speedy recovery, she still has that twinkle in her eye.

Sorry to hear the news guys. I wish I had something wise to say at times like this, but I can only offer that my heart goes out to you.

Re: Tulley The Chessie Broke her leg on Christmas
Tully - The look on her face says it all. At least you know what the problem is and are on the mend.
GSA - I feel for you, man. A wise man once told me that lab owners should buy a new dog every 5 years. That way you have a veteran, a dog in its prime, and a rookie. It is a heartbreaker to lose your only dog. Time for a new pup as soon as you are ready.

Re: Tulley The Chessie Broke her leg on Christmas
Wow Tulley, she looks bummed out. That is one heck of a cast. Hope she is back up soon.
GSA,
There aren't enough words to ease the pain. Makes ya realize how short of a time they are really with us.

GUT There just are no words to say, but I am so sorry you have lost a friend and companion. I hope you can get another when the time is correct.
