Default Fern Ridge level???

Did any of that rain get to stay in it? Might try to hit some ducks this week down there. Last time it was pretty freaking low, but still was able to get some action. Tulley

Tulley,
I don't know about the water level in the lake but I am going on a controlled hunt in the morning at the refuge and I spoke to manager of the area today and he told me the whole area is under 12-18 inches of water on the roads and some water at the blinds was over my head deep. Apparently the portable bucks bathrooms were lose and floating down the road. Back in 95' or 96' when we had the big flood we were in this same situation and we had some of the best shooting we had seen in a long time. If and when you go out giveme a report and let me know how you did.

MrDuckman--

I will no doubt give you a report. Duck hunters these days need all the friends they can get when it comes to finding birds. Tulley

Tulley,
Hunted the controlled area this morning and was not very impressed. Lots of water and no ducks flying to speak of, of course the weather could have cooperated a little more. I will try again saturday hopefully it wil be better.

The reservoir looks like it filled about half full from the recent rains. Not many ducks on it today. The Corps had the spillway turned off for repairs or something yesterday and early today but now its open and the LongTom right below the dam looks like the Colorado River!

Are any of you planning a trip to fern ridge? I am also thinking about a trip on the willamette between J.C. and harrisburg. Or maybe I should give up and go goose hunting.

Could have had an ok morning today except for the mandatory person who shoots at ducks 75 to 100 yards off ( that happen to be working your spread) Should have went after the honkers .. Looks like lots of water in the lake.

i think i'm headed out for the fern ditch (lake) in the morning. probably be out again over the weekend to get my fix before school starts. might have room for someone if they'd like to join up for a hunt.

i havent hunted the amazon/fisher butte units in the morning and would like to learn the ropes out there if anyone is willing to help a fellow hunter out....

Oregonwrestler,
I will be at fisher butte on saturday but I am not going out until midmorning and will probably stay until shooting hours are over., I heard the evening shoot is better than the morning because the birds are coming back from the lake to feed. Don't know will have to see formyself.

mrduckman,

i've only hunted out there in the evening once. i probably didnt hunt in a good spot, but we didnt see any birds flying (it was last season in december). but, i have heard good things about hunting out there in the evening this year.

i've tried kirk pond in the evening once this year but i did not see any birds flying until 30 minutes after shooting light.

i'll let you know how tomorrow morning's hunt goes...
