Timney Triggers - Do you own one?
I've got a Ruger M77 Mark II that needs a trigger job. I'm thinking about going with the Timney, although there are less expensive options available. I'd like to hear what people who have them in their rifles think of them.
Its a big game rifle. Not varmint or benchrest.

Re: Timney Triggers - Do you own one?
I do!
The newer Ruger triggers are non adjustable and very rough. We measured the one I replaced and it broke at 13#'s! Timney is the way to go, fully adjustable and you will never have to mess with it again.

Re: Timney Triggers - Do you own one?
What's more affordable? I bought a timney trigger from midwayusa.com for like $64.95. I love mine on my ruger m77 7mm. Very smooth. I'll be ordering another one for my new .223 soon. (father's day present) good mama.

Re: Timney Triggers - Do you own one?
Timney makes a good product and the service department is first rate. They built a coustom seer for one of my rifles (the stock seer wouldn't work on the Mauser variant I had) at no charge.
RUGER SHOULD BE SLAPPED FOR WHAT THEY DID WITH THE M77MkII TRIGGER!!!

I have one on my wife's muzzleloader. First rate piece of equipment, I'd recommend it.

Re: Timney Triggers - Do you own one?
Have one on order for my Winchester Model 70.
I am considering an upgrade on my Marlin guide Gun from Wild West Guns in Alaska.

Re: Timney Triggers - Do you own one?
I love them, I've put one on every rifle I own, except my Remingtons, which are about the same.
I agree, Ruger should be slapped.

Re: Timney Triggers - Do you own one?
Timney makes a pretty darn good trigger. I've messed around with them a bit, but for my money, I love the Shilen offering. I currently have one on my custom .308 Winchester and will from now on use them exclusively on every rifle I build.
Timney, Jewell and Shilen all make very nice aftermarket trigger groups.

Re: Timney Triggers - Do you own one?
Oh yeah. . .and avoid Rifle Basix triggers. I've not had good luck with them, both from a functional standpoint and via their customer service department. That said, some guys swear by 'em. YRMV.

Re: Timney Triggers - Do you own one?
I just put a Timney nickel plated trigger my Winchester model 70 SS but I have not shot it yet. It seems to be really crisp and is definitely much better than the stock trigger.
There is pin that holds the bolt stop and spring that needs to be cut off and glued. Optionally you may install a 6-40 X 3/8" socket head setscrew in place of the pin. This involves tapping the receiver. I thought that the first option was Mickey Mouse and I am buying the setscrew after work.
This is definitely not a "drop in" installation and I recommend that you check out what needs to be done to your firearm for installation. Especially if you plan on installing it yourself.
Spelling ****?
Actually, I use spell check quite a bit (I wrote this post in Word) but I do tend to be a “grammar ****."
