Default ARGGH...Mack's Prairie Wings!

I need to vent on this because I am a spoiled brat who always buys from Cabela's..."Simply the World's Best Outfitter and Best Customer Service."

So I helped my buddy convert a modfied john boat into our duck hunting machine this summer and thought I would add some goodies to it for his birthday. I had seen Avery's push pole, marsh foot and paddle in Mack's and looked and looked in all 300 of my Cabela's catalogues. No dice. So I decided I would place my first order ever with Mack's.

I called on Dec. 1 to place my order. Before ordering I asked the agent to confirm availability. She said all was in stock and so I placed the order. I inquired about delivery time and she said 5-7 business days (This was Sunday.) Four days later, I call to get tracking numbers on the order. The agent tells me everything is on backorder and has not arrived at the warehouse yet. Had I known it would have been backordered I wouldn't have placed my order in the first place. So a week later, on the 13th (10 business days), the first piece shows up. I call again and this time ask to speak with the customer service manager. She gives me some sob story about how their old system was going to crash and they had to slam a new one in without testing it. I let her know I have a background in software and that they should have known better as they are going to loose my business and probably others over this. She tells me they can't see what is in stock, what is shipped and what is scheduled to arrive.  (How do run a business like that.)

She tells me my stuff should ship on Monday and will personally see to it. At this point I am giving up on ever seeing this order before the rapture.

Well today (now 3 weeks and 2 days from the day of my order) the second piece shows up. The shipping bill shows the the 3rd piece shipped before the first one that I recieved. So again I call to find out what the deal is. The agent said that it (the third piece) was recieved into their warehouse on Friday and was packed and scheduled to go out today. But it didn't for some reason. (Yeah like I believe that.) He says it should ship on Thursday (the 26th) as UPS does not pick up ground shipments on the 24th. (WHAT? that's news to me).

So sometime next year, the 3rd piece should arrive just in time for Springers after it gets shipped via "the slow boat to China" method.

(I left out that my average time on hold waiting for an agent was between 2 and 10 minutes.) Needless to say I will NEVER place another order with Mack's again. If I need something and it is not in the Cabela's catalogue, I will call them and ask them to special order it. (I would put money on it that they would.)

So just to remind myself of why I love Cabela's, I called to check on something for my boys for Christmas. The agents picked up my call (4 of them over a week  ) before I ever heard a ring.

Sorry for ranting but this is really driving me nuts.

Thanks for the "heads up".

I have a MPW catalogue on the back of the toilet and was considering a couple of minor purchases.

Customer service is King! Go Cabelas!

Glad we could all learn from your experience.

Power of the keyboard.

I will use my MPW for fire starter and stay with Cablela's and Sportsman's Warehouse.

Mack's suck's, period! Nice catalog for reference though.
I tried to order four different things from them a couple of weeks ago, all out of stock. Cabela's had it all in stock, I guess I shoud have known better.
You should see what the guys at refugeforums.com have to say about them. Nothing good at all!

Lured In,

I sorry to hear that. I've ordered from them quite a few times in the past and have had great service! Their prices are good and the folks I talked to were friendly and knowledgeable - and my orders got here just when they said they would.

I know they are experiencing some problems right now, and it's never fun when *you* are on the receiving end of a snafu, but I'm not going to write them off. I personally think Cabela's needs a little competition, and Mack's is one of the few left. Besides, I really have had only good experiences with them.

Thanks for the heads up, it helps to know who's good and who's not, but I'm going to hang in there a little longer with them.

I've used Macks without any problems in the past as well. Hope they get their shipping problems sorted out before they go out of business.

"CABELA'S" That word will send shivers up and down my wifes spine!!

I don't know how my marrige would hold up if Cabela's opened a store within 100 miles of here.

I hear your pain with M.P.W.! I ordered motorized dove decoy from them this year at it was a painful experience! I used it this year I don't know if it helped any, but I won't be able to use it next season, so now what do I do with it, E-Bay maybe?

Good luck,
Andy

Andy, convert your "mojo dove" to pull string or fishing reel powered.

Mac's may be teetering on the edge. One thing for sure, I don know how much it takes to keep an i-shopping website going but, Mac's new web page ain't what it used to be.

I make it a point stop at the Cabelas store in Sydney Nebraska every time I head that way even if I have to make a detour. It’s like Mecca to most sportsmen that walk thru the doors everyone just walks around in amazement mumbling to themselves. I almost had to take a knee when I walked in the first time.

As I remember the last time I was there they had 2 full size bull elk fighting mounted right in the front door heck they even have an Elephant stuffed in there.

Usually I drag my self out of there before spending too much money but it’s always a challenge. Have to say Sportsman’s Warehouse is the closest thing to Cabelas I have ever seen. Although the Bass Pro shop outside of Dallas Texas would give Cabelas a run for their money. Only because the restaurant there is amazing and the store is a tad bigger. Other then that it would be a wash.
