Default place to duck hunt

Does anyone out there know of a place where I can take my 9 year old son to shoot his first duck? I have heard floating the Pudding can be pretty good. Any help would be great. Thanks....

Its going to be tough right now, there aren't many birds in the valley at all. E.E. Wilson could be a decent bet for a jumpshoot at first light.

Sauvies Island has some youth hunting opportunities.

Good luck,

Jump shooting early at St Louis ponds might be a spot worth checking.

I'd jump on the SI youth hunts. They set aside the most productive units for youths.
Down side is that the adult can't hunt. :depressed:

DO NOT FLOAT THE PUDDING! if you have never done it before it would not be a good idea. Log jams and some fast water. Even when the river drops down there can be some nasty log jams that you have to take out at and walk around. Im talking about the pudding from Silverton to just past Woodburn I dont know about any lower than that though. Just be safe and whack some ducks. Good luck!

Adults accompanying youths at Sauvie may only hunt (the same blind) after noon duing the day of the hunt. Only youths can shoot until noon.

I too would recommend this. Great blinds to hunt are as follows...

Hunt Unit...Blinds 7,8, and 5 in that order.
Racetrack Unit...Blinds 13, 14, 12 and 11.
Mudhen Unit... Blinds 13, 14, 7 and 9.

Good luck and you should have no problem securing one of these. PM me if you would like info on how to get there, process, etc.
