I Went to a Dr.s apt in Portland yesterday. Knowing this for days I packed my trusty pole so I could go up to the Dam and try my luck. I get up to the washington side on the bank around 6pm. I toss out the lucky spinner and sit and watch the pole till around 8pm. At 8:05 I decide to go for a little walk down the bank to check things out. I'm the only one fishing that I can see. I check my bell and drag and everything looks good. I get about 75 yards away from my pole and all hell breaks loose. I look up to see my pole doing the dance.

Bell still attached but no bell sounds.

The damn thing is in the off position.

I'm thinking back to the days I could run over rocks and boulders. I do the 75 yard boulder dash. Get to the pole, fish still attached. It had managed to pull out line and get itself into the back eddy. As I reel to catch up to it from the slack line, I'm doing the count down to setting the hook. 5.....reeel.......4reeelllll.....3.....2... alll the time the fish was on a different count down. It's count down was more like 3..2..1 see ya. He takes off for oregon. Gives me a quick head shake and the fin. Man, why is it when your away from your pole it always starts the dancing moves? Great night, I'll think of that fish till my next walk!
