Re: AMAZING GRAPE
We fished a Cape Kwanda dory for 10 years. I have always liked the Harveys lines....and how they can push the boat and 4 passengers with a 50 hp.
I am sure power is not a problem with your boat....awesome.
Nice job!

Re: AMAZING GRAPE
Hello-
My family has a cabin in Tierra Del Mar. I have always wanted a dory... grew up watching them in the haydays when there were dorys lined up along Cape Kiwanda.
Question for you.
I've never been out through the surf... with a dory like yours how big is "too big" for the surf... to make it out? Also, I take it you are diving to get the scallops???

Dave,
It doesn't take much to be "too big" in a dory. I'm much more comfortable in big surf in my F-470 zodiac only because I can turn and run from a big one and turn and look for another slot. Dory boats are much less manuverable and once you commit you're going to take what ever set you picked. I'm getting a little more comfortable with "Amazing Grape" but it doesn't handle surf anything like the BLACK ROCKET. and yes diving for the Pacific Rock scallops.

That boat in Newport is NOT the Black Rocket, it is the Mexican Rocket, and yes that is a fully auto 40mm cannon/.50calBMG turrett. Being delivered to the Mexican Naval Special Forces as sonn as we recieve the proper license from the U.S. State Dept for Export. I'll tell more in a separate post

Leave it to you... even when you're "down" you're not out... Always got something up your sleeve, huh KJ?
I hope the Admiral isn't letting you overdo it! We want you back out on the TUNA! grounds with us.
BTW, Admiral Lyn, Love the choice of color. My favorite!

Re: AMAZING GRAPE
Pretty boat!!! Glad you recovered enough to fish, but scuba
diving with 100# of gear on your back, this soon after back surgery might be overdoing it a bit. I know those Rock Scallops are tasty, I used to get them myself with Crazyfish
at Three Arch Rocks, but ya got to take it eaiser as ya get older, I'm fighting the getting old thing myself, but I have to admit two days of pounding my semi "v" boat out & back to Tuna town is all I can take. It sucks getting old!!!
Gald your doing well, hope to see the Black Rocket launch again soon.

How far out do you run from Kiwanda to get into good bottom fishing?

Dave,
I shoot (spearfish) limits everyday at the Rock, but fishing is great within 1/2 to 2 miles from the beach.
