Default Late Season Archery Results

I was just wondering how everyones late season archery season went. Mine was probably the worst I have ever had. Alot of people I have talked to said the same thing. Then to top it off Weyerhauser Springfield closed the lands as soon as the rifle season ended.

I drew Wilaon tags so I was hunting my normal area. Me, my hunting partner and tourist brother-in-law went out opening morn. at dawn. The spot we were at you have a short hike through the woods to a clearcut, if the elk are there then they're always on the other side of the ridge of the clearcut. Not this time, :depressed: they were on the top of the ridge looking right at us. A large bull (5x?), a spike and 12 sh00ters. I never even try to be very quiet until approching the crest of the ridge. They eventually went over the ridge and into the canyon, we never caught up. Sunday, I tippy-toed all the way out, nothing to be found. The next Saturday everyone in the county was out target shooting all around, nothing to be seen. Sunday: watched football, too pi$$ed to go back. I normally go south to hunt the last weekend but didn't this year.

The late season is always a tough one. The critters are pretty spooky after rifle season. This year the weather was really nice so they had plenty of light to feed at night. No heavy rains or snow to push them into feeding during daylight. The best late season hunts are always after some heavy storms or snow. I always try to hunt to breaks in the storms when I can. This year we had yellow jackets in our camp  , that was a first for December.
