Hello Brett;

I got to looking at my books and the only real guide I have is the Steelhead Fly Tying Guide, by Kent Helvie. It was put out by Amato publications. All the other books I have are about how to tie Atlantic Salmon Flys, Sorry I don't know of a better beginners book right now

Call your local fly shop and sign up for a class. I did eight years back, it was a great help. They will give you the basics and then if you want, they usually have more advanced classes. They may even have some good books for you.
