1st Weekend in July .. Dark of the moon
Or pretty close to it any way. Between last quarter and the new moon. It seems that we do pretty good on the Albacore on dark of the moon days. Hope the weather holds up.
Also I am hoping that some of you will not wait that long and will be reporting landings and locations so we know where to fish.
We had a thread a week or so ago for that weekend. I've got a good feeling about it being the right weekend to kick off the carnage.
Your thoughts, Anyone?

Re: 1st Weekend in July .. Dark of the moon
Hope to see you out there. Got the new riggers to try out. Not to mention all the new tackle. Really looking to try out the blade runners I got from Charkbait. They sure look good to me but who knows what the albies will think.

Dave,
Tmobile Sidekick II, I can get reception up to about 15 Miles offshore. I can browse Ifish from the boat, and can do a LIVEUPDATE.
Technology is pretty slick these days..

Re: 1st Weekend in July .. Dark of the moon
I love the dark of the moon for tuna also.Former comm'l tuna fisherman told me how they would watch bite with moon out shut down the minute moon set on horizon..Which makes great fishing with moon but at night on full moon clcle. No moon daylight fishing much better chance of fish on surface. Now that fish 20nm off Eureka should be good up the line after this moon clcle.Tight lines Mike

Re: 1st Weekend in July .. Dark of the moon
We are headed out tomorrow for a recon mission in hopes of finding what they did in Ilwaco.
I'm going to have the Spotter Pilot "look around" next week if the forecast is fishable. I will share any info that comes from that.
Anyone interested in making the run tomorrow out of Garibaldi?

Re: 1st Weekend in July .. Dark of the moon
Hi ya'll,
While I may be boatless, I am available and would love to go for a run out for some Albacore. I would be available on the 2nd and/or 3rd, and will certainly cover a share of the fuel costs, food, beverages, and gear.
I do have all the tuna gear from when I ran the Sea Jypzee, and as anyone who has been around here since 2003 can tell you, I do know how to catch them tuna.
Soooooo, how about it? Anyone got a seat available for a lady going through tuna fishing withdrawls?

Re: 1st Weekend in July .. Dark of the moon
Nancy!!! Good to have you back
I plan to fish the 30th, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th as the weather and my body permits. Halibut, salmon, and tuna are all on the menu. Not clear which days will be Tuna but at least two (if good weather) but not in succession. Will likely have a full boat (3) but would love to have Nancy if I can find some room. This woman can hunt!

Re: 1st Weekend in July .. Dark of the moon
I can second WP's assessment of this most capable fisherwoman. She can run a boat, put out poles and handlines, pull in handlines while reeling another with her off hand, bleed and ice fish all at the same time . Oh yeah, and she does it all while chewing gum .
If anyone out there can find a spot for Nancy, it would be awesome!

Re: 1st Weekend in July .. Dark of the moon
Albacore feed 24 hours with a full moon....No moon to 1/4 is the best...On a full moon they may be full by the time you get to them...

Re: 1st Weekend in July .. Dark of the moon
I won't have enough hours on the new ride until probably the 3rd or 4th. If the weather permits on those days I will run.
My entire weekend, which consists of the 1st-5th, will depend on the boats readiness.
I leave tomorrow night at midnight to go pick it up.
I have allot of electronics to get mounted before it will hunt. Some of which will be done by the dealer on next Monday leaving me Tues and Wed to finish up with downriggers and a host of other things.
Look forward to seeing everyone!

Greg,
I'm not working right now so if you need any help with those electronics give me a call. I can always use the crew points when it comes to fishing season!!
