If I was looking for a guided hunt I would give a lot of thought to the middle fork of the salmon in Idaho. Fifty percent of the hunters that go in there get six point bulls. I've taken eleven bulls in thirteen years hunting in Idaho. No spikes. I believe you can contact the Idaho fish and game to get outfitters names and where they hunt. Good luck ex-tex

Default Elk Hunt

I am looking for suggestions for a guided or semi guided elk hunt. I would like to hunt out of a camp instead of a lodge, but his is not necessary. I would also rather hunt a wilderness area instead of a typical ranch, although this is not a must either. It would be rifle hunting and cost IS an object! There would be 5-6 hunters and I am looking to pay for myself and my father in law. Where would you go? Montana, Idaho, or stay in Oregon? I would be only Oregon resident. Do you have any suggestions as far as outfitters? Thanks in advance for your information.

Try also posting your question here:

And also make sure you attend the Sportsman's show. Sometimes there you can tie faces in with names you'll get from your research.

Good luck, I hope to hunt in Idaho myself this next year!!

If I was to go on an elk hunt I would go down to New Mexico.

Kingfisher - If you plan on hunting New Mexico or Arizona for elk you better spend a lot of time hitting the books! Those hunts start around $8000-10,000 and can easily cost twice that. For referrence, you can hunt Africa for less.

I've never done it but I hear you can get a drop-camp hunt in Colorado pretty inexpensively.

Check out U.S. Outfitters (USO). They are national outfitter that I have heard nothing but good things about. If I were going out of state (especially NM or AZ) that would be where I would start.

Good luck.
