My son is 16. I don't know about the terrible twos, but I do know about the nasty 16s.
Anyhow, he is very good at debate, and we find ourselves arguing alot, lately.
While I was out fishing, I was thinking how sad it is, because he argues to "win" the argument, (I remember those days, and I still do, sometimes!) but sometimes this leads us further apart in our Mother/son relationship.
So, I wrote this while I was out, and I like it!
Quote:
I believe that it is more noble to struggle to win peace...
than to fight, and win a war.
And I've yet to see both accomplished at the same time, or by the same force.

I think it applies to many things in today's world, much further than family life.
It also occured to me how late in life this came to me, and how important it is. I want to "fight" for peace, rather than win any wars. The prize is much greater.
It also worries me to come to this, as I wonder how many lessons I have yet to learn, and how short life can be. Will my life end before I learn the most important, and the most simple things in life? That's a scary thought!

It's like you kind of know these things, but when you put it in a simple sentence, it means so much more! At least, to me!
