Default Oregon Hunters Association

For anyone that is interested, I think the Oregon Hunters association is a good organization for protecting a lot of the outdoor activities we enjoy in this state. The biggest problem we have is that collectively we have no voice in policies that are made regarding our favorite pastimes. Mainly because we are all working, to subsidize the non-profit activist groups that oppose us. this organization does
alot to represent hunters in the legistature, as well as secure hunting rights on some private lands. with membership you also get 6 issues of the Oregon Hunter Magazine weach year.
Someone asked me why i belong to the OHA and not the NRA. I told them if I lose my right ti hunt, I don't need my guns anyway!!! although I think the NRA is important as well.
the OHA web site is.http://www.oregonhunters.org/
They also contribute to the TIP program for both hunting and fishing .

Been a member for a year now.....haven't been to a meeting in McMinnville yet, keep waiting for someone to drag me there, I guess

I agree, it's a great organization, although I've heard some of the long-time members complain(last 2 years Sportsman's shows) that they don't get things done like they used to, because there's getting to be more diversity among the membership ???

I've been an OHA member for about 10 years. Never been to a meeting, never been on an OHA outing, but I do read the magazine which is worth the annual $25 dues all by itself.

The real reason I belong to OHA is they are the only voice the average hunter has to represent his/her interests in Salem. OHA has been actively representing the interests of all Oregon hunters before the fish & wildlife commission and in the legislature. They are effective.

If you are a hunter and want to continue hunting, you need to join OHA. Its that simple.

I think I got started in 1981. We got togeather in prinville and called ourselves the snake river elk hunters, we must of had better then fifty people there. the second year we had a meeting in redmond and again we had a large turn out. the third year O.H.A. was started. Gutshotape put it pretty good O.H.A. is about the only thing that the Oregon hunter has going for them thats on a positive note. Membership is very important to O.H.A. for its lobbing power. Can you imagine if we were onehundred thousand strong the power that our lobbyist would have with the legislators and the fish and wildlife commission. O.H.A. also does a lot of on the ground projects that benifits our wildlife and are an injoyment to get involved with. O.H.A. also is responsible for the T.I.P. program. I guess I need to get of off my soap box, but if you aren't a member its the best thing going for you. Join if you can.

I have asked for a membership for Christmas. Now . I checked out the magazines while laying in bed with my gut burning from eating the "tacobake" from h**l when I was deer hunting this year.

Seems like a good association.
