Hunted east of Arlington on the river Saturday. Usually it is a gimmie for limits. We saw a total of 20 ducks and maybe 50 geese by noon.
I think the weather was a big factor because I know there are still ducks around. It was a balmy 50 degrees with a light breeze of maybe 2 mph.
I found myself wondering why did I drive 2.5 hours for this when I could have got this action and weather at Sauvie?
If the wind picks up with this temperature drop things could pick up again. Out there the wind is one of the single biggest factors to break up the massive rafts of ducks on the main river.
There are still lots of ducks around the Dalles and mouth of the John Day. Saw quite a few back toward Hood River as well.
Good luck.
