So I am tearing the stove out of my striper to use the space for a tackle station when I spy the freshwater tank sitting there taking up valuble tackle space. There is about 3 gallons of water in there that can not be utilized and pumped out unless a big swell lifts up the transom to run the water forward to the pump intake. So that is about 25 pounds of water and 6 or 7 pounds of tank doing nothing for me. When the owner(wife) of the boat is on board she likes to have some water there for hand washing and such after visiting the head. So I have ordered a 3 gallon tank that I will mount at a bit of an angle so the water will be at the pump ready and waiting. Question is do you think 3 gallons is enough? I know if the boat becomes disabled and we are floating off to Japan I may wish for the 14 gallons back but most of the time I just dont put any water in there. The only time I use the stuff is when I am at home and will pump some into a bucket to do some cleaning around the boat. I always carry bottled water for drinking ever since I flushed out the water that came in the tank new and it killed a large section of the neighbors lawn. Never seemed to taste too good after that. Now I have to buy a small portable stove so I can keep the second home rating on the boat for the IRS. But I am going to have a lot more storage room and a real nice tackle station.
