Re: Help me! In Wilson Trask unit
I hunted the upper trask drainage after crossing over Kansas Creek on Sunday morning. From Kansas Creek to the Trask river road I counted 9 cars. Once we got near where I wanted to hunt, I walked the road until I could drop down towards the river to hunt. In the 10 minutes I was on the road, I was passed by 6 cars, 2 with California plates...
Once all the rigs start moving around, I think the elk go for the thickest areas they could fine. I kicked out what I expect was lone bull about 100 yards in front of me and I was slow stalking. Tough when you don't even get to see them.
Regarding the new sign, we walked about 6 miles on Saturday in a private area. Went back yesterday and the rain had washed all our prints away. They are out there, but a lot of the sign is getting washed away....
Find the deepest darkest area around and get walking, that is where they are hiding.
