Default Suzuki kickers

Anybody have experience with the newer four stroke 9.9s ? Good or bad?

We got one that pushes our 20ft Thunderjet around, runs fine but could not get it to go slow enough for us, tried to idle it down some and finaly just ended up cutting the prop down

I have a 15 HP that has stayed with me for the last two boats. No problems what so ever!! (Except for the time I had water in the gas) It does spin a tad fast, but I figured this was just due to the fact it is a 15 horse. It's a 2000 model with about 350 hours. I'd say go for it.

I believe that the 9.9 and the 15 are the same motor. The 9.9 just has a limiter on it.

I have a 2004 9.9 as a kicker on my 19' Thunderjet. Like mentioned above, it pushes the boat a little too fast. If I really rev it up, I can almost push my boat onto plane. I need to put a prop on with less bite.

On a side note, I've had some fuel mixture issues with it. It tends to run too rich. Even with a warantee tune-up, I still have issues...

I have an '03 9.9 on an 18' Trophy for a kicker. It works great and is sized right for me. Mine is a pull-start, and has been a little slow starting on occassions, but that may have been a familiarity issue with me.

I have a 98 Suzuki 4 stroke kicker for a 20' Duckworth sled.

I've had the same problem as Rocky. It will not troll slow enough. When I idle down to the slowest speed it has a tendency to die. Very aggravating.

Other than that problem it has preformed well in all other applications.

Rocky, what exactly did you do to your propeller?

I have the 15hp (same powerhead) electric start(2002). The speed is a little fast for fall kings, but great for coho.

A flat prop will let you troll down. About $90

Bingo! It dosent start on the first pull, but when it starts it wont die, choke in or out. Caught lots a fish with it.

Rubber Robin, I took the prop down to (forget the name right now) the place just down the street from Jubitz on Vancouver Way and had them cut it down about an inch, if my memory serves me right, which it dont most times, it was around $35.00
