Default A first and almost a second...

After just having one of those weeks, I decided to head down to the river for a little post workday r&r. Now keep in mind I have never caught a salmon before. About five minutes after my first cast my rod takes a dive and before I even get to it a very distressed fish breaks the surface. After a nice little fight I landed a nice lil' native which was promptly returned to continue it's journey. I honestly dont think I've ever seen a more beautiful thing than that fish. It has been a long time coming.

Anywho about five minutes after the next cast the rod take another dive and I see my line just zipping downsrteam. This fish was much, much, bigger!!
but after a long hard fight and just as I was about to beach it, the fish decided that it just didn't want that hook in its mouth any more and swam back into the depths without it.

I'm still just on such a "fish buzz". And I owe it all to everyone here one Ifish. This site is truely an wealth of knowledge. And as nice as it would have been to fire up the BBQ tonight, the expirience will NEVER be forgoten.

PS If you ever find yourself sitting in the car, in the driveway heading out to the river...and you ask yourself, "should I run back in and grab the camera?"
you awnser should always be, "YES!"

Cheers,

Ian
