Default Next years hunting dates??

I heard somewhere that next years deer opener was going to either be a week earlier or a week later than usual. Something about how ODFW starts it all out based on whatever. I need to find out so I can plan next years time off from work as soon as possible. This year I had to cancel my plans to elk hunt 2nd season because of work. I figure to put in for the time off needed so far in advance that "they" won't be able to pull that one again. Anyone know yet?
Thanx
Bob

I pestered a F&W guy last fall about the seasons and why they were set. Here's what I got.

Deer rifle season sets all the dates. It opens the first saturday closest to Oct. 1. This year that should fall on Oct. 3rd I believe. Take six days off of that and you have the last day of bow season. The other season's are cooresponding the same way. Not sure if that helps but it got me off of his back about it.

Thanx TC.
This means that the rifle elk seasons will be later than this year and also rifle deer end will be more into the rut  Yeehaw So now I just need to figure out actual dates and put in for time off. I figure the last full week of deer season on thru the second elk season ought to do it. That would be 4 weeks hunting and scouting for next years food supply  Then if I get my buck early I can always "negotiate" and graciously agree to only take 3 weeks off

I wouldn't take everything I said and base the vacation on it just yet. Word is they've been working on new elk and deer plans for the upcoming seasons. Not sure if that will impact dates or not.

OK...I can wait till the new regs come out. That will still give me plenty of time to put in for vacation. Hope the seasons don't change too much though...

You can do what I do and plan when to get sick. It backfires when a week later you really do get sick

I have it on pretty good authority that everything will be moved out one week next year. I would put in a call to a regional office or maybe to the info line at hq (on their website).

Dates went to ODFW FnW commission last month. 10/4 (or the first sat. in Oct) is the Deer opener if i recall. They were moved out a week.

Proposals should be on ODFW website as part of the Commision minutes.
