biggest springer this year!
This is one of the nicest ones I have landed this year.
It was 31.5lbs after I cleaned it and took out the gills.
I would have to guess about 35-37 live weight.

Re: biggest springer this year!
I got a close twin to this one is Trask TW this year. I have caught a few 30+ lb Springers and many 40 - 50 fall chinook. I did not weigh this fish, but it was by far my largest in the last 4 years. I estimated it to be an honest 30+, could have gone 35, but not much more. After 30 years of catching coastal chinook I acutally am pretty good at estimating the weight... on trick is always deduct 10% of what you think they weigh after you catch them. I call this the adrenilin adjustment. One other one was 27 cleaned and gutted........But the year is far from done, I hope to still be catching nice shinny sea lice coast fish for at least a few more weeks and then some upper clack fish in early July.

Nice fish. I got my biggest this year as well yesterday down river a ways from your spot there. I figured it to be in the low 30s.

Re: biggest springer this year!
We had a double later that day and Tristan got his own. He was like a dog playing tug of war. You couldn't pry that pole from him, here is his picture. [/image]
We left the river at about 3:00pm and I asked if he wanted to fish another river til dark. He said," ya" I was tired but he wanted to go so we did. My friend Doug and I hooked the double. I let Tristan fight mine until I got Doug's into the net. He's a definante fishing machine. He started the day at 3:00am when I woke him to go, and never faded til we quit at 9:00pm when he hit the car it was lights out for him.
