Nymph Swap-FULL
Here are the details:
-Nymph swap
-Deadline is July 15th
-12 people (including myself)
-12 flies tied per person (one set will be sent to Jennie, so you will only get the 11 flies of the other people back)
-Guidelines will be as follows:
1. Flies will be tied according to the specific rules of the swap (dry fly, wet fly, nymph, streamer, etc.)
2. (Toe tag flies) each fly will need to have a small piece of paper attached to the bend of the hook with the swappers name on it. (This makes it easy for swapmeister to divide up prior to being sent back.)
3. Flies will be mailed in a crushproof box. Altoids cans are perfect (Please no expensive trout fly cases.)
4. Box will be sent to swapmeister with a stamped self-addressed envelope.
(Do not put postage money in envelope)
5. Flies will be mailed on or before deadline date.
Here are the participants:
1. Clacksteel39-Black midge*
2. Stew-Copper John*
3. D3smartie*
4. Ryan Pultz-Hendrickson Nymph*
5. AndyK-Maroon & Silver Chironomid Pupa*
6. stoneflyguy*
7. Chromaflage-V-Rib Rockworm*
8. Salmonslayer*
9. bighugetrout-Olive Willy
10. deefly-Peeking Caddis*

I'd love to be involved. I have a modified Sheep Creek Special that does well in both lakes and rivers. Is there still room on the list of 12?

Do you think a size 16 is a good size? Brian Chan ties this pattern in a size 8 - 16.

Anywhere from #12 (believe it or not) down to #18. I usually would use a #14 or #16. So, yes.

I will be tying a fly called the "Olive Willy". A good friend of mine came up with this fly. This fly is best on lakes but has caught redsides on the deschutes. Here's an illustration of the bead head version.

Re: Nymph Swap-FULL
I'm going to tie either some wet alder flies or some wooly buggers, is that ok? I can also tie up some caddis larva that are great for the fall cutthroat. Does anyone have a preference?

Re: Nymph Swap-FULL
I would like to contribute a Pheasant tale variation (at least that is what I think it is). Im not sure that this nymph has a name or that I just don’t know it. It seams to get some good action and that is what counts right.
Well anyway it resembles a Pheasant tale but with a beaded head and a colored beaded abdomen, a pheasant casing, with some legs either rubber or pheasant, add a little peacock some dubbing and a touch of copper and whala she goes.
I will try to post a picture tonight, im sure my explanation isn’t helping any.
ok name this nymph

Meskel Nymph
The nymph originated in County Cork, Ireland on a little known stream near the Blarney Castle.

Re: Nymph Swap-FULL
Well the top one looks like a GBTBS, or "Green-Bead-Thorax Bottom Scratcher" . Not sure about the bottom one.
Actually they both look like fish catchers even if their not "official" patterns.

Re: Nymph Swap-FULL
OK, my flies are done. I tied a All Purpose Emerger. I know it's nit exactly a nymph but when fished under surface film or just below the surface it can be deadly. It was introduced and made popular on your own Kalamath Lake area. I hope your happy with it, small patterns are not my favorite to tie. All I need now is an address to send them too.

Re: Nymph Swap-FULL
All right the package is in the mail. I think you should get it in the next day or so. I might have got this part wrong though:
2. (Toe tag flies) each fly will need to have a small piece of paper attached to the bend of the hook with the swappers name on it. (This makes it easy for swapmeister to divide up prior to being sent back.)
All 12 of my flies have my name on said tag. Sorry if that is wrong.
Gettem in boys so you can start some fish on the Meskel ESP

Re: Nymph Swap-FULL
My flies should already be in the swap-masters hands. Confirmation might be a plus (just in case I needed to send in the second dozen thanks to our postal service) And for some sick reason I have that second dozen.
I would also like to do this more often. If there are willing people, I would gladly take on the responsibility of swap-master.
Just throwing that out there.

Re: Nymph Swap-FULL
Mine should be in too. I would be up for another swap just name the type of fly and I'll start tying. I would also like to know if mine were recieved. Last time I had a brain fart and forgot to include postage. I think everything was in order this time but I had my wife send them and sometimes it's better to do things yourself so if someone could let me know if they made it that would be great.

Just a warning...I need to receive the flies by the 15th. This time I will not be accepting anything late. I'm leaving for Colorado shorty after the deadline and I need to get them right back into the mail once I receive them.

Re: Nymph Swap-FULL
I recieved the last of the flies on Friday. I'm trying to get everything sorted out. I hope to have them on their way by mid-week (going wake boarding today...too nice to stay inside counting flies)! Thanks everyone...I think this is the first swap where I got all the flies on time!
