Default Family fishing at the ponds...pics

Well, took the wife and two kids to the ponds today just to get out of the house, my 2 year old got a kick out of catching dinks with a crappie jig. Of course I would hook him up and he would reel it in but I thought he did pretty well using a 6 1/2 foot rod

After reeling them in he wanted me to put them on the ground so he could touch them, until they would flop around and that would scare the crap out of him!!! But he would always get mad when I turned them loose, because he might want to touch them again - maybe -

But after a while he got more interested in chasing the geese and their goslings:

But that gave me the chance to get serious for a few minutes, I hauled this one in on a 5" black/blue sparkle laminate senko (knockoff) rigged texas style with no weight running almost slug-go'ish near the surface on the edge of a weedbed:

And then to top it off on the way out we swung by where the union school that works near the ponds park their equipment so the little buddy got to pretend like he was running a backhoe:

Meanwhile mommy and the two month old hung out and they both ate, Ron's island grill for mom and milk for baby!
Nice day, no bugs, not too hot and a few fish for everyone to reel in, including dad!

Dave: Yea you know it's spring/summer when you can get that close to wild geese! I have kept my eye on them and most of the goslings have done really well out there, more for us this fall!

Cliff: They are a series of ponds along the Willamette that are old rock quarry ponds near Mt. Pisgah. They are private ponds that I have had permission to fish since I was a kid. It's nice to go out there and not see anyone else around and it doesn't get much pressure. The only bad thing is the blackberries have taken over the place and the weeds are slowly swallowing all of the ponds which makes it tough to fish, if you ever want to "rat" fish that is the place to do it during the summer!

I know what you mean shalom. Sometimes I wish I had a plane so I could find all of the ponds/waterbodies that I am not able to see from roads, I bet I would catch a ton more fish and kill a lot more ducks! I know the ponds have been there for at least 30 years, as my dad used to take me out there when I was a little kid and I am almost 30. They were established ponds back then and the company had used them for rock and moved to a different area. I have been told they were better fishing back then due to less weed growth, more food source but who knows?

Is there a place in Eugene where Sinko's can be purchased? Also interested in getting the smaller version of Zarra Spook after reading about some of the smallmouth fishing.

The smaller version of the spook is called the Zara Pup. They sell them at GI Joes, and most places that sell bass tackle.

Senko's are great !!!! But don't be afraid to try the
Yum Dinger's , they are a knock off that i think are just as good and you get more in a package . The best part is they cost less and you get more per pack .

Do the Yum dinger hold up better than the Senkos? That is only thing that I really hate about senkos is that they fall apart after acouple of bites. Also, do the Yums come in three, four inch? thx

They hold up about the same . They come in 3" and 4" .That is the only sizes that i use . I think that you get two , It might be more per package than the Senko's . I get mine at Fishermen's , but i think that G I Joes has them . Bass Pro shops and Cabellas carry them allso .

Already done shalom. I use knockoffs from alluringbaits.com, just like a few other guys on here. Great baits at a great price!
