OC Area Shad Bank Fishing??

I am working up by Aurora tomorrow for a while......was thinking of taking a pole and going up to OC, if a person can catch shad off the bank up there that is. Is it mostly a boat show or could I stand a chance to catch a few for crab bait on my lunch hour :grin: ? If so...what to use? thanks

At the point, and up the Willamette in Clackamette Park, they fish off the bank all the time. They do quite well there too. I am not sure how they rig up though. I have seen some guys casting a conventional steelhead drift fish set-up with a small shad lure instead of a corky. If you need gear Fishermans is just across 99E. Good Luck!! :grin:

Go to clackamette park and fish off the bank.You should be able to catch a couple on your lunch break

Yes just up stream from the clackamas river mouth. I was there yesterday and there were more boats than bankies. Fishing was slow. I fished for 2 hours mid day and only saw one fish caught from the bank.(30 or so fishermen)

Some in the boats were doing better but not everyone. Fish with small green jigs or small spoons like a dick nite. slinkie for weight keep it close to the bottom and Good Luck.

I got three in an hour last week.
