Long Island is in the south end of Willapa Bay and consists of 400 acres or so. Most of it was (is) owned by Weyerhaeuser and they logged most of their timber 10-20 years ago but left oldgrowth spruce, cedar, etc around the edges. There is an old logging road system on the island that takes off from the landing across the channel from the USF&WS headquarters boat launch. I think deer & elk hunting is archery only. It is popular with kayakers who camp at various points around the perimeter. I've never been on it but have driven past many times. Have heard of some big elk taken out there.

I doubt if its hunted out. It used to be (maybe still is) the only archery-only hunting area in WA and the WA bowhunters wouldn't tolerate overhunting or mismanagement (if they're anything like Oregon bowhunters).

p.s. Hunters used to take mtn. bikes over to ride the logging road system on the island.
