Blacktail Hunters Vote here
It was a good hunting season...for the deer anyway what with the dry weather and all. Interested to see what the success rate was for western deer rifle (Buck only) tag holders.
If you hunted the general season please vote.

Re: Blacktail Hunters Vote here
I could have tagged out....we rattled a buck in to about 40-50 yards last weekend. But, no good shot was available because of the brush. However, it was still a fun season

Re: Blacktail Hunters Vote here
I'm still hunting as I drew a Willamette unit tag that runs through the end of the month.
If anyone knows of some good areas to hunt in the Willamette unit, I would be very appreciative and would be willing to share some venison if you can help me out.

Re: Blacktail Hunters Vote here
The dry weather was to the animals advantage this year for sure. Oh well win some you loose some. I got out six days I think, would have been more if it had been wet. Passed up two forked horns and got to get real close to a couple does. No meat in the freezer this year but I still had fun  Nothing beats Blacktail hunting.
Leave for Elk hunting in the Morning hopefully this rain will help that hunt.

Re: Blacktail Hunters Vote here
I still have two deer tags yet to fill and I don't plan on going for another week or so. I can't wait for that ruttn' to really kick in. I have the late willamette tag and a ranch to hunt on for that, and a late bow tag. Could get some nice bucks out of the deal. We'll see I guess. I know of one 6x7 with a droptine killed that I had my eye on (he was nailed the last evening of the season), anyone else get a monster???

Re: Blacktail Hunters Vote here
I saw as many bears as I did deer this year, 5! Pretty soon we may see as many cougars as deer as well, at least untill the meals run out. After seeing so many bears I begin to wonder if the so called deer hair loss syndrome is because it falls off the hide after they are eaten.

Re: Blacktail Hunters Vote here
Well I didn’t get my deer, but I got some good sound shots off into the brush. I know it must have been a deer moving around in there!

Re: Blacktail Hunters Vote here
No problem blacktail, if you're looking for places to start I would head out to Veneta. I believe that's the outer edge of the willamette unit and is a good place to start. However the river is looking so enticing right now it's driving me crazy to catch a salmon. So many choices so little time. I love this time of year.
