Default shad under a bobber

I took my 7 year old granddaughter shad fishing and to avoid hearing, grandpa somethings wrong.A bobber and jig seemed to do the trick. First cast a willing biter made the day. The jig was a gold hook lead head I painted green two ft. under a fixed float. I allways thought you had bo be deeper than that to get shad.

thanks for the report, by the way where were you guys fishing at? That may have been the difference and probably water color played a part in that. David

I'll try it in O.C On friday that would be a riot. you could use the same dik nites with out any trouble I bet since they are so light I am sure they would do the trick.

A shad dart (Yellow/Red or Red/White) under a bobber would be good. We catch them in a couple areas near the Oregon City area just casting slightly upriver and letting them drift downstream. Some of those areas are shallow and a bobber would be killer.

I will try it next time I'm out and I'll post a report.
