Default ...It Figures...

Had to work today...so invited a friend to hunt with my son this morning...The wife calls me at work to tell me Jason and Greg didn't even get off the property and bagged a big fork. This buck was missing an eye...happened in a recent sparring match. Sunday I jumped a BIG buck but couldn't get a shot off. Last night Jason was surrounded by 3 bucks but was in heavy cover and couldn't get a decent shot. I hope to take tomorrow off and deer hunt..Taking it down to the wire...

Just think the rain is coming tonight and tomorrow will be a lot better day to kill a big un. I have been out the last three days, the wods are popcorn dry. I have had my chances at smaller bucks but I am looking for a Big one. Tomorrow is our last chance. Been fun this year though. Had a doe come within 5 yards of me last week. Good luck.

Further news...When my friend and my son came back to the property for a lunch break, a dog (Husky type mix) followed them up from the river. Then the dog saw the horse and proceeded to chase the horse thru a fence into another field. After trying to call the dog off, my son shot it. The horse is ok but it took quite a while to catch him. When I get home I get to try and find the dogs owner...Maybe a neighbor up or down the road. Because there was no horse damage and the fence was elec. tape and easily fixed, I plan on charging for the bullet used and will drop the dog in their driveway so they can deal with it. Cold? Could have been alot worse and I don't want to have to bury it.

Sounds like a pretty good day of shooting.

If I see any of those husky looking dogs in Idaho next week, I just might have to do some shooting. Birdhunter, do you want a pelt of your beloved predator?

you and I know who's dog it probably was...

On another note last week I was at my dads when I got sick, so I thought why go back to portland, I can be sick here and hunt

So sick as I was with the flu, I wasn't about to sit at home and not fill my deer tag...

I hunted my a$$ off and probably shouldn't have, since I am still sick, but it paid off.
My dad was whining about being sore, and about me going out there sick, but I talked him into going on a hunt with me. We planned a fairly long hunt, but I had to cut it short because I blasted a fork up in Buckley's. It was about 200 yards away, just looking at me. I killed it with one shot, right through the top of the heart, a lung and liver.

Now I can't be up there for first elk season because my soccer team is now in the quarter-finals of state, we play saturday, but oh well I always got second season to hunt, and I think I feel an illness coming on right now, I have a feeling it is going to start around the 16th and run through whenever I get an elk

Last day deer season, tagged a nice doe. So between my son, myself, and a friend we have 3 deer. Not a stellar year but not meatless. Decided to dump that dog for the coyotes...Actually think the owners of the dog live up the road from me, winterkill, so not the Owens/Brown. Bighorn is logging right across from me and the owner is elk hunting in there sat. but I can hunt sunday thru tues up there. So I will be hiking "miles" to find elk sat.....However there is a ridge "Longveiw" that the elk are hanging on so could hunt down thru that but might then push those elk into waiting guns, not ours. We,ll see....Should be interesting no matter what happens.
