Default Corvallis "mini" TA meeting: June 15, 5:30 - 8 pm

Hey y'all, I have spoken with several different folks in these parts about having a modest gathering. Not necessarily to ONLY talk about tuna, but just to get the local salty dogs together to meet, have fun, and yes maybe talk about tuna...gear...yadda yadda.

1) Who would be interested?

2) What day of the week would work for you? Would a weeknight work, or would it have to be a weekend?

3) Any preferences for a location? Some thoughts:
- Old World Deli in Corvallis (good food, great brownies, beer made on the premisis, low-key, lots of room)
- Woodstocks pizza in Corvallis (decent pizza, family place, plenty of room & parking)

Let's hear it .....thanks, MM

Pre-sell Hoggemin all the tickets he wants, then don't tell him where we're meeting.

Count me in for a local meeting.

Any night of the week after 6pm. Unless it's a little league night, or wednesdays (softball double-headers), or... um.. heck, just pick a night and I'll try to show up

Another good place to meet would be the Los Dos Amigos Hacienda in Albany. That wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that I could walk home though!!

sounds great -- name the time and the place. American Dream downtown (roof top) IF the weather cooperates -- just a thought.

Hey Steve, yes I too am very partial to American Dream pizza. One issue though is parking. It has gotten more problematic at that spot since the new restaurant opened up.

I would lean towards Woodstocks, since there is good parking, and they have a "back room" we could probably get on a weeknight.

Yes, I'm in unless it's Wednesday the 15th, can't do that night.

A place with a separate room would be best so we don't bother other patrons and so we can bring gear.

Oh, one other thing, this gathering may not be so small, Cor/Alb is pretty central in the valley. If we're lucky, we'll even get some coastal folks besides some from Eugene and PDX.

Thanks for doing this Mark! Woodstocks sounds good since it has that back room that we could take over. After work any weekday sounds great. Maybe we should we do a poll to choose between specific dates?

Count me in, Mark. Hopefully you can post a couple of possible dates and let us pick? I'm always doing a balancing act between my nurse wife's rotating night schedule and kid visitation schedules ...which means if it's a no-kid night, a place not necessarily kid-compatible would be fine, but otherwise I'll be bringing from 2 to 4 rugrats with me ...they eat anything.

Thx,
Brian

PS: BTW, We've got until June 24th to meet, say 'hi', at work sometime. I'm taking the VSI package and will be working for Concept Systems in Albany as of July 6th ...last day at HP is June 24th. In between is yard duty and fishing... maybe a bit of boat building? Geez...

Hey All..... I know that dearest Margaret suggested a poll for possible dates, however, uh, I just wanna throw a date out there based on the input so far, get this plan in motion, and hope that most can make it.

I am proposing:

- Wed June 15, 5:30 to 8:00 (or a little later for those wanting to burn the oil).

- Woodstock's Pizza in Corvallis

- I have already reserved the "banquet room" from 5 - 8. I told the manager that there would be 12 - 20 people, and I would give them a more accurate count as the date gets closer.

We can pre-order pizzas; do a poll to decide "flavors" if need be. The place is very kid-friendly, and the room is such that you can keep an eye on the kids (as long as they stay inside it!).

The pizza is actually pretty good. They have things like artichoke hearts & pesto (and yes, all the meats ).

I'll post detailed directions later, but basically it's: From 99W, at the N end of Corvallis, go west on Circle Bvd (Bi Mart is at Circle). Continue west to Kings Blvd (traffic light / Albertson's); left (south) on Kings, go about 1/2 mile, Woodstocks is on the left.

Any thoughts on what you'd like to do, other than talk, eat, & drink? Shall I bring a little TV / VCR? Rods/reels/tuna gear....?

More later......... Mark

Paul I kinda want to eat, drink, & listen MORE, and talk less this time .... Since you're local, we can meet sometime at the park & do some casting.

OK maybe the "cliff notes" version of "light tackle tuna a la Depoe Bay."

Time to make more swimbaits......

OK all, please confirm / reconfirm your attendence on the other (new) post. Thanks!

Glen, Cloverland is real close to Woodstocks. Lots of little kids around to aim for . We could hook Brenna up to my 655XXH with 80 lb....and let her "run". She'd actually love that...we do it at home sometimes.

Bruce, that's what coffee is for right ?

Mark....Isn't it past your bedtime? I KNOW HP likes their employees bright eyed and bushy tailed
That only applies to those who are NOT short-timers!

MARK: The 15th is fine with me. I think my wife's working ...I'll have 2 of 4 kids with me it looks like. Don't worry, it's just the squeally screechy loud little ones . If it weren't for that, I'd be up for a cool one or two at Suds & Suds afterwards... but alas!

Brian

PS: I second the remark about Woodstocks having good pizza. It's one of the best ...My wife says it IS the best.
