Default Reflections of this years Elk Hunt

This Elk season really sucked or was successful depends on how it is perceived! 5 minutes into the season a 5 x 6 Bull stands along the road in the hunt area just long enough for me to get out and run off the road just to see his butt going into the brush. No Texas heart shots for me! Found a pile of dead Buck mule deer on Shaw Cr. Hams and backstraps cut out and the rest dumped into the creek, horns cut off. called and reported to OSP, found spike bull laying in the middle of a open unit. big blood trail. tried to salvage but was too late... finally took a big cow on Sunday got caught out after dark, 2 miles over blow down timber 2 hours in 5 hours out. Tried to help a hunter with catching his mule, got had caught in the mules halter and drug over a barbwire fence, dislocated finger, broken finger, fractured upper arm, ruptured biceps muscle, dislocated shoulder, mutliple lacerations to legs from barbwire, spent half a day in the hospital in Heppner. Gee I think I'll stay home and fish salmon next year... ARE WE HAVING FUN YET!!!!!! Probably try again next year,

Sounds like a bummer trip, but it wont be long and you will be telling funny stories about it.
