Default going from inboard jet to a outside prop?

My father has a 24ft. duckworth with a 460 inboard jet pump. My question is that he wants to take the jet pump off and put on a prop, can he do that with out doing anything to the engine. And how much would cost to do that? if someone has some great answers that would be great.

Changing over a boat that was designed for a jet could be more work than it is worth. You are going to change the design characteristics that Duckworth built into the boat. Do you want to do that?

You will need to weld some huge plates to cover the jet intake, jet steering nozzle and provide support for the transmission to replace the jet. The transmission may not fit with the motor in its original position. You will have to install a shaft log, struts and rudder. All this to put a propellor on a jet boat.

If you pull out the jet system and think about outboards that would grossly affect the center of gravity of the boat and make the boat a$$ heavy.

Nope, this is a project for NASA and rocket scientists. Better to put a FOR SALE sign on it and get a boat that was designed for propellor power.
