Default Shimano Corvalus opinions

I was thinking about buying one of these. Any pros and cons? The line capacity is appealing and I think Shimanos cast better than Ambassedeurs. (sp?) Thanks for your input.

I've got a 400, 300 and a 200. No problems, nice drag, casts great, great warranty, even greater price. The clicker, on the 400, is not the best in the world but that is the only thing that comes to mind as a nit pick. I also have a Calcutta 400 but after trying the Corvalus reels, I don't see a need to buy anything else for salmon/steelhead.

Nemo,

Thanks for the input. I know you put a lot of fish in the boat so your reels get tested. Thanks.

Based on a recommendation from Capt. Nemo I bought the Corvalus a month or more ago. Have only caught 3 smallish sturgeon on it, but it seems to be a real nice reel. Very smooth.

I purchased a 301 and have been very pleased with it. Super smooth drag and the price is great for this quality of reel.

I bought one this year for bobber fishing for spring chinook. I have caught 5 springers with it and am very pleased with the drag and the castabilty of the reel. The only thing I dont like is the thumb click as when using heavy weight it doesnt always fully click into freespool, so sometimes you have to reel then reclick so you can cast. This has only happened 3 times and it has been on 6 half day trips. You cant beat the price for the quality you are getting, buy it and you wont be dissapointed.

Good reels for the price. Make sure to tighten down the side screws when you pull 'em out of the box. I'd also recommend replacing the plastic washers with stainless -- you'll see why when you tighten those screws down.
