features, black diamond inlay in grip,or engraved pigeon behind hammer on frame, the standard is between $250.00 and $850.00 depending on condition. if it has a pigeon engraved on it with the condition excellent it could be worth up to $7000.00 plus

Thanks Baltz! You gave me a starting point. It currently is not in my possesion. It was mine at one point, may be again. I do not remember a pigeon. I do remember a full choke and a 30" barrel. Probably catered to waterfowlers back in its day. Using it for waterfowl now is not an option now due to steel shot and weather conditions. Thanks again.

The Model 97's typically have pretty thick barrels and depending on mfg date it may or may not be ok to use Hevi-Shot in it. I've shot Hevi-shot in my old belgium Auto-5's w/ full choke w/o issue. In fact it patterns nicely.

Also the 97 w/ the thier hammer are popular w/ the cowboy action guys and can command higher prices than the books show. Many of the damaged 97's get shortened a bit and used for cowboy action.
