He is out of school nex wed, thurs and frid I would like to take him out to shoot. We live in Corvallis and I dont mind driving a couple hours to hunt, any suggestions on where and what I should take him for?

The fee pheasant hunt at EE Wilson is open till the end of October and is a pretty good time. Lots of valley quail out there as well. Other upland hunting around here would be grouse and mt. quail on the Coast or in the Cascades. Shoot me an e-mail if you want some specific areas.

Ducks and geese along the Willamette are an option. Summer Lake is kicking out good numbers of snow geese right now if you want a drive. Sauvies is another option although it's been pretty slow lately. If you know anyone with ponds or lakes around the mid-Valley that you could get access to I'm sure you could get a few local birds.

Good luck.

There is a youth hunt this Sat. at Sauvie Island. If you need a map or details let me know. Hunting is better where you live than here. All blinds are assigned on a draw basis. It froze here last night and could bring in fresh birds.
