What is smartest thing you have done lately?
Surely we do not all just do stupid things....
The smartest thing I did lately was bring my wife coffee in bed this morning, after giving her the memorial flowers yesterday that were floating by the boat.

Re: What is smartest thing you have done lately?
I purchased a 20hp electric start merc for 275.00, a Johndeere lawn tractor for 300, and traded a mountain bike for an xr80 honda dirtbike for the kids......all in one week and yes everything was in great condition and the lawn tractor even came with a nice bagger setup and new blades! Man I love the internet.

Re: What is smartest thing you have done lately?
Took 2 hours off from the Barn Building Monday morning to go see my lonely mistress in her slip. She fired right up! Other than the fact that the heaters were still on from winter (she's nice and dry inside ) and the fact that the spiders have her completely hog tied to the dock (who needs mooring lines anyway? :grin she seems fine.
Argghhhh...It did make me realize just how close July is getting. I need a clone!

Mark, when I grow up, I want to be just like you!
The smartest thing I did lately was agree take the kids Shad fishing. It's so cool to see them work together as a team when most of the time they're busy trying to kill one another.
Thanks John, for the awesome suggestion... and thanks to Clint for actually going with us for a change. I know at 17 you have other things you'd rather be doing And thanks to the Shree-imp for showing your big brother a thing or two about fishing without rubbing his nose in it.

Re: What is smartest thing you have done lately?
Gotta find a big enough boat to do the ceremony on. She's pretty agreeable to most anything when under the influence of fishing in general and the ocean in particular.
Anyone know a sea captain and vessel willing to do this?

Re: What is smartest thing you have done lately?
I know of Capt. Morgan but I don't think he has a vessel anymore.
Then there is Capt. Ron..... Arrrhh.
I certainly think you can find someone qualified to do this for ya two. Just get it done John.

Re: What is smartest thing you have done lately?
Having talented boat friends who are always helping me update my 1973 boat. Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Splicing and a new Aluminum Mast, (and a new fish gaff ). Just gotta keep them supplied with fresh fish in the summer. Call me thankful for good, generous and talented friends.

Check with JT on the Tacklebuster out of Depoe. I think he does stuff like that. Plus you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer looking boat. Man he takes good care of that thing.

Smartest thing? Went shad fishing today in the rain. Not to many boats out and fishing was good. Plus we took my buddy's father in law who has never been shad fishing before. He got fisrt and last fish!

Re: What is smartest thing you have done lately?
It's been a while, but 4 years ago I quit my full-time job so I wouldn't have to take my kids to daycare. They were 9 months, 1.75 years, and 4 years old when I quit.
My wife and I have both worked part-time since then. We've done without material items, but we've learned who our children are and I've taught them all how to fish!

Re: What is smartest thing you have done lately?
The smartest thing I've done lately is take tomorrow and Friday off work. I'll be taking two of our boys out shad fishing on thursday. I hope to reward their long, patient companionship while we chased salmon, lings, halibut, etc. from long hard days of fishing, some days with limited success. Hope the rods go wham... whamm... with alot of fun, exciting shad fishing. Thanks to those who have helped me figure out shad and what to do with it when we get it. It's great to spend quality time with family and friends.
