Great Evening Deer Hunt!! For The Deer
Well I decided that since the fall rain was still a few days off I would take my first deer hunt tonight. I Hunt some Family property outside of dallas. I grabbed my Brother-in-law and one of his workers and we set off about 545 tonight. The first patch of timber we got to I set my Brother-in-law down to push and positioned his friend on a road that looks over some great crossing's and I took the other side wich in the past is usually the less productive spot. No more than 1 minute into the push I heard him yell be ready there coming out!!! So patiently I sat there waiting for any sound or movement. I thought for sure after 10 minutes had past that they came out on the other side were my brother-in-law's friend was but not hearing any shots I assumed they were does and sat there waiting for everyone to come back to start pushing another large patch of brush and timber. Then I heard it!!! brush was crashing and there were animals moving closer to me. They came right at me and when they were visable through the timber they took a sharp left and came out about 15 yds above were I was standing, 1 doe, 2 doe, 3 doe,4 doe then the 5th stopped dead in his/her tracks and stood there on the outside of the timber, then walked back towards me and got exactly straight away from me and stopped again. All I could make out through the timber was a body and little bit of a butt. Then it took off and shot out about 25 yds in front of me. It broke timber and came out in the open, there is a road then about 15 yds of grass then another set of real heavy timber. All I saw was a very very nice rack and he was jetting right for the other timber I raised the gun and got a good scope on him then BOOM....No wait thats what I wanted to happen. Just before I heard the animals coming for me I put my gun back on saftey anticipating that my other party members would be coming back around the corner soon and getting ready to go to another spot. Well needless to say all I got was a solid trigger and by the time I hit the saftey he was in the timber and crashing his way to another county :depressed: .... Ok its now just about time for dusk and we go and push one more set of timber. Not were my buck had gome though for some odd reason. My brother-in-law wanted to push another set of timber on the other side of the property so he and his friend hit the road and I jumped in the truck and drove down to were the clearing was. I got down there and they had already started to push and there were six deer standing there in the open, I only had time to jump out of the truck and scope one real quick, it was a doe. The other vanished downhill to another property I jumped into the back of my truck and stood up wich gave me a great view of the clearing.I saw my brother-in-law come out way above me about 400 yds uphill all I could see was his orange it was just a little to far for me too see that he was waving his arms back and forth trying to tell me that there was a very nice 3x4 sitting no more than 50 yds in front of me behind some briars that he could see very well and I could not see the blind side. Hew finialy yelled there is three point right in front of you lol I thought that was funny i was scoping everything with my binoks and I didn't see a thing finnially he said stay right there he is moving right for the truck with 3 does. I heard them but still couldn't see them there is one patch of very high and brishie thickets that they were behind and my brother-in-law started moving down the hill to keep them coming my way I watched all three does come out on the road and immiedtly hit the timber all I had was a logging raod to work with now for line of sight and to make a safe shot becuase of were my brother-in-law and his friend was the buck shot out on the road I got my first glimpes of him he was a big deer with a nice tall rack not very wide about a basketball maybe but very tall but thats all I got I had my scope on the road at his exact location he came out I admired then he was gone into the timber before I even fired a shot. So my after I took a tongue lashing from my brother-in-law about how he couldn't believe that I did'nt see that deer standing in front of me for like 5 minutes not moving even when he was yelling the reason he didn't shoot was I guess my pick-up and my self was right in the line of fire if he was to miss his shot so he did'nt even risk it. Well a long unpuctated story but that was my deer hunt this evening will be back out tommorow got me some buck fever now... On a side note the property we were hunting was my in-laws so thats probably why we didn't go after the big boy my brother-in-law wants that one for himself lol... we have 895 acres of good hunting so I'am a lucky one
