Default Ifishstock 2005 (a little relaxed!)

Ryan Pultz is going to help ifish put on ifishstock this year. It's going to be cut back a bit... More of a family bbq than all the prizes, etc... Just a fun get together.

We are planning on having it at Sellwood Park this year.

What is the best date for you? It will be on a Sunday in the afternoon.

Jen
Ifishstock is an annual party we have, usually held at "Hedlund Acres" on the Kilchis. This year, it will be at Sellwood Park.

We get together, most people fish in the morning, or go to church, then after noon, we gather and bbq and eat way too much!

We usually have too much food, crab, salmon, clams, oysters! We usually have door prizes! Some people camp, some people stay in town, some drive in for the day.

We usually ask people to bring their own food and some to share. You might also bring a table and chairs, or a blanket.

We encourage children to be present, and discourage overconsumption of alcohol. In fact, most people don't drink. Bringing a beer is fine, if that is your beverage of choice for dinner, but it's not a drunken wild party. I have to check on the booze rules for Sellwood Park.

It's just a bunch of ifishers trying to get to know more ifishers... putting names to faces, enjoying our passion, and talking, laughing, and eating too much!
There will be ifish gear for sale, and some ifish sponsors may attend, bringing their goods for sale.

Bring the family!

Only rules: No drunks... Please bring something to sit on, and please bring lots of food! Oh yeah, one more, if you pack it in, pack it out... Except leftover food. I'll eat that.

IF you have a door prize that you are bringing, simply ask, at registration, where to put it.

I may put together small contests. We'll see how my energy level is!

I will have ifish hats, decals, patches, and maybe a few sweatshirts here. If you want to order something, please let me know, so I can order it ahead of time. (You know, like a sweatshirt, or something.)

Seems to be some misunderstanding about how to eat at the ifish bbq.
It is a "bring your own meat" bbq, although I will have roasted pig here for those who forget, or those with little ones, that don't want seafood delicacies.
Salads, casseroles, public sharing foods are welcome.
We will supply pop also.
Bring what you like to drink, if you don't like pop, but we will not be providing alchohol nor will be responsible for it's use and would appreciate that it be used, if at all, with respect to the property owners, and the other drivers on the road. If you drink, don't drive!
Usually someone brings oysters, and that is a huge treat on the bbq!
There will be plenty of food, I am sure, as last year everyone brought lots of wonderful edibles!

We will have a crab cooker available and a corn cooker.
We usually have all the condiments, ketchup, mayo, butter for the corn, mustard... plastic silverware and cups...

If you have any specific questions, either write to me, or post it on the board.
Thanks much, and I'm looking forward to seeing you all!

What else? Questions? Comments? Ideas?

The party will begin around 1 to 3 P.M

Thank you so much for making Ifish what it is, and don't miss this event! It'll be a blast! Everyone will have name tags, so we know who you are!

Any Sunday is fine.

I would like to make one suggestion. Like most old dudes, I have a ton of gear, rods, reels by the dozens, salmon, steelhead and trout tackle of all kinds, etc. Can we set up a freebie table for kids and other fishermen just starting out? I know I can help make lots of youngsters happy, and I'll bet others would contribute gear too.

Thumper- You're awsome!!! Thats a great idea. a free table for the kids!!

I think the 31st is the best date for my clan. we will be in Newport at the Salty dog USCG event on the 16th. A weekend break in between would be a good thing.

Wootersen Brother I am sure I can use your help once we have a date set I will be contacting anyone that wants to help out.

My goal for this year is to be a nice relaxing time kind of like a family reunion only with our Ifish family. Rp

Ryan & Jen,

You know that you can count my wife and I in. We will help in what ever way we can. I don't live too far from Selwood so it would pretty easy to bring over some supplies. I have large two burner propane stove (which was used last year) and turkey cooker that could maybe work for crab? My vote was for the 17th since it's my birthday and everyone could sing to me. I'll talk to you as we go along Ryan.

Hope to see lots of people there.

Thanks,
Bob

I was just wondering if the Ifish hunters are welcome. I could bring some elk roast and a little moose for people to taste.

If so maybe you could post on the hunting board..

Just a thought.

Ryan count me in to help out! Last year I helped out registration- a great way to put faces with people.
If you haven't attended an ifishstock and would like to meet some of the real people behind those monikers, then you will have to plan on attending this year.
Ryan will no doubt have a list of jobs to help pull this off. I encourage you to take up one of those responsibities- a great way to make this thing happen and meet some great folks.

That's why we chose Sunday, actually... So that people could go to church and then come be with people.
But, I do understand that some folks honor the Lord totally on Sundays by not going anywhere or doing anything. There are others that do that on Saturday...
There is just no way we can keep everyone happy, so we are doing our best. We will miss you!

I cant think of a better way to enjoy and give day to the lord then sitting at a park with friends and eating some food the good lord has given us. But everyone feels differently. The reason we picked a Sunday afternoon is Sundays are a day for family and Well here on Ifish I consider us a big Family. I will be it dysfunctional at time but a family. So I would hope you would reconsider joining us but as Jennie said there is no date we could have picked to make everyone happy. Rp

It's a good thing the 24th won your poll or you likely would have had zero Salty Dogs show up.

Ifishstock, as I remember, has always been held in August or September. I was caught off gaurd with the early dates!

The Dogs are planning a Coast Gaurd Appreciation day on July 16th.

I hope to make both venues....so I better plan to wear my "fat pants" on vacation!

for you Ryan for stepping up and helping Ifish out with this major event!!
