Default Where are these Monster Green Peter Kokanee?

I'm going to run up to GP tomorrow afternoon to make sure the boat and motors are happy before I head to Astoria for the long weekend. I figure if I am headed to the lake I might at well do a little fishing.

Where have people been cathing these fish? My assumption is between thistle and the island, but we all know what happens when we assume...

Are they being caught on ford fenders and weddingrings or something a little more fun?

I was there today (Tues, May 24). Boats were scattered all over so I do not think there is a hot spot. Try fishing from 10-45 feet deep. Trolling lead, say 2-3 ounces, is working as well as downriggers. I would try different typical Kokanee lures (I used a friend's homemade with green beads and a small silver blade).

I fished the south shore side across from Thistle to 100+ yards above the floating restroom (less wind), which seemed to be as popular as anywhere else that I could see.

As is typical, wind came up at 10 a.m. (shortly after we arrived), and the air cooled right down to jacket weather. It died way down at 3:00 p.m., when we left.

FYI - both foster and GP are Full.

There are no thermoclines in the lake yet and the fish are scattered. Trolling with downriggers, or even a mooching (banana) weight, at all depths should produce ...probably consistently, but not hot. Standard red wedding rings worked Saturday morning (w/nickel colorado blade to replace the original and stinger dual-hook setup)

We found it to be slow acrossed from Thistle so we headed north of the island on the west side there is a rocky spot along the bank there and it was producing a real good bite on Monday, we got 13 and lost just as many in just about 2 hours. Ford fender with prism tape and a green wedding ring tipped with white corn. I was using 2 oz banana sinker and going about 8 passes on my Abu garcia 4600 if that helps any.

Good luck Tim

The family fished last Sunday, starting at the crack of noon. We were across from Thistle, trolling past the points. Kept downriggers tuned to 45' and had constant action and several doubles fishing just two rods. Although the fish were scattered both horizontally and vertically, it seemed they bit better at 45' after trying several depths.
I let the kids reel them in and net them, so we lost a lot. All fish were 11" to 12", not huge but very good for Green Peter. Lure didn't matter. I had one Ford Fender with green wedding ring and one 0000 dodger with a blue/mylar spin-n-glo. Both had white corn with shrimp/anise on double hooks, mooching style rig.
Good luck.

I was there on Sunday. Fished mostly around the island. Caught 7 (11-12") trolling 30-40 feet with wedding rings and shrimp scent/corn. For the most part fish were scattered in very small schools (per fish finder). However, we tried jigging on east end of island where bottom was about 70 feet. Finder showed larger schools moving around in that area near bottom, and one VERY large school moved through at about 30-40 feet but then disapeared. Only got one hit jigging so went back to the troll. EZ Limits
