Default Lost Bow

Didn't think earlier about posting here but maybe it might help me get my bow back. This year during bow season I took my whole family out road hunting. We were hunting out of Long Creek in eastern Oregon. On the third day of the season I shot a small buck. After shooting it I set the bow on the side of the hill by the truck. I know - real stupid. In the confusion of finding my arrow, cleaning the deer, watching the kids and showing my wife how to care for the meat I load the truck and forgot to pick up my bow. When we got back to camp I hung the deer and then started cleaning everything up This is when I noticed that my bow was missing. I drove right back to where I had left it but it was already gone. My release was the only thing still laying on the ground where my bow was. If anyone knows of someone that found this bow may-be they get them to get in touch with me. Bow discription: PSE 5050 green camo. Chabel graphit arrows and broadheads one arrow with a juddo point on it. Also has a piece of rope for my wrist sling.
Hard way to learn a lesson.

I'm with norm, you were what?!? Some bow hunter you are. Sounds like a bunch of roaming gipsies to me. Learn to hunt ethically, or find something else to do. We've got enough Boneheads in the woods...er... on the roads.

Nice guys...............I am sure you have never been opportunists and "hunted" one you have seen from the road! He stated that his whole family was with him and sometimes the kids cant hack the tough climb I am sure that you rompin stompin real men ALWAYS go on! I am not a road hunter, dont get me wrong-but I for one think it's great that a guy takes his family out with him. Look4elk--you might want to tone it down about the road hunting though-it is looked upon as rather unsportsmanlike. I have a bunch of friends that live over there and I will ask around if anything was heard.

Look 4 Elk,

Sorry for the couple doughballs that don't understand that there is more than one meaning of road hunting.

For example:

I was looking for a road in SW Portland. Which is not illegal, doughballs may think otherwise.

I was driving down the road looking for a good place to hunt, which is road hunting. Again, not illegal.

I was driving down a logging road when I saw a deer in a clearcut. I jumped out of the truck and snuck down the trail and shot the buck, which is road hunting but not illegal.

I was in the back of a truck which my buddy was driving when a buck walked out in front of us and I shot him from the truck bed, is illegal.

Now, I hope we all get the picture.

Hope you get your bow back.

Les.

Norm anytime that you would like to try and keep up with me in the woods you are very wellcome to try. But when I have a 2 and a 3 year old with me I think that I will drive them around. It does amaze me sometimes on this board how some are so critical. but I also believe that they are the ones that normally don't have much else to do. When is the last time you took some small children out to introduce them to the woods, or is it all just about you.

Just because someone says they are road hunting doesn't mean they are shooting from the road. I have seen many people drive roads, see an animal, bail out and track it down and then take it there is nothing illegal about that.

Some people just jump to conclusions too damn quick around here.

I agree. Jump to conclusions to fast. Were you there to see the situation? To much negativity. Just what I like hear. Give the guy a break. Hope you find your bow.

Not jumpin', just taking him at his own words "Road hunting" he did'nt say "had the family out for a drive" he said "ROAD HUNTING" i'll stand by my previous post. Look 4elk, not trying to split hairs here, just responding to your own statement. Gator, " Looking for a road in SW Portland" you gotta be a lawyer. Quit yer "carping" about us doughballs

Chummer I posted to get help with finding a bow.. Not to take trash from you. The way I see it this board is to help each other and to build each other up. This should be a possitive thing not negative. One thing that I have found is that those who are constantly looking for things to attack are not very happy people and are out to drag people down to their level.
If you ask me for help I will give it to you and that is all that I was asking for from those on this board. If you don't want to help and just want to trash someone please don't post.

Anyone that says they went road hunting has to shooting off the road?
He didnt say he shot it from the cab of his truck. he just said he was road hunting.

READ PAGE 10 OF THE OREGON BIG GAME REGULATIONS : No Person Shall Hunt any wildlife from a motorpropelled vehicle . What part of that statement is hard for you guys to understand? Were is the "sport" in shooting a deer along side the road? I see people do it all the time and it's plain and simple unethical and illegal !!!!!!I think it's just as bad as snagging fish. I did draw some conclusion from look4elks statement "I took my whole family out road hunting" maybe I'm misunderstanding his meaning of "road hunting", if he was following all the game laws and his ethical responsibility as a hunter, I apologize. For all you who think road hunting is o.k. . If I see you make a kill while roadhunting, I will gladly call it in.

I believe it is ok if you are dissabled, so page 10 does not explain everything to my satisfaction. Give the guy a break. He took his family out to enjoy our resource. He is teaching his children about the outdoors. Anyone willing to do this is a good person in my book.

I get sick of the nit-picking that has started to take over this board. If you do not have anything possitive to say then do not say anything at all.

Drunk Cowboy,
The nit picking is nothing new to this board, it just runs in cycles. We were about due for it.

Look4Elk,

Thanks for taking the kids and family out with you! As long as they understand taking an animal normally involves hard work. If the deer was dumb enough to let you get out of your vehicle step off the side of the road and shoot it...well it deserved to be taken out of the gene pool. Sorry to hear about your bow, not much I can do.
Good luck

Now onto road hunters, I love you guys you (whomever you are) keep elk far away from the roads for the most part were I know I can find them. You road hunters aren't stompin around in the places that are really holding elk this is my kind of area and yeah I know every once in awhile you get lucky and see an elk to shoot at fine. Please let the road hunters be road hunters there success rates are very low and it keeps them out of the way of the people that are willing to work a little harder for their elk or deer. I can tell you this I very rarely see other hunters in eastern Oregon and when I do there is an instant admiration for the other hunter because I know he is really bustin his hump to go where I have gone and I can tell you this if on the way back to camp I see an elk that is willing to let me get off or out of whatever I'm riding or driving in and step off the side of the road towards the animal (shooting across a road is illegal) that elk is dead and I will thank the gods for the gift they have given me an easy pack or drag out for a change. I'm actually hoping that this year I will get one on the first or second day instead of the last or day before the last. Stepping off the soap box now!
