Default Children and eyedoctors??

I have a young one, just about ten, who has had glasses for a couple years but rarely wears them. The glasses were lost/broken a few months ago.

Now she is complaining about headaches and eye troubles. The problem is since we are both students, We Dont have any insurance at all. Nevermind the stuff that covers optical!!

does anyone know of any low cost optical that is reliable (good doctors)? anything that might give discounts to children??

eyefish- any suggestions??

Paul

The optometry school at Pacific University in Forest Grove has a sliding scale for services I believe.

You may want to check and see if there is a local Lions Club chapter in your area. If not do a search for them. I know they are big into vision programs....just a thought.

Be sure they check ocular pressures as well. Long ago I was having headaches as well when reading. Turned out my vision was 20/20 but I had glaucoma/ocular hypertension.

Check with your child's school counsellor. I am a teacher and I routinely submit students names to our counsellors who arrange for eye exams and glasses.

Don't know how to spell it but the Devers eye clinic.
Also, OHSU is excellent.. Casey Eye Institute. They have a good sliding fee scale.
