S. Oregon upland report

Spent the weekend down in Days Creek/Tiller with some friends and did pretty well for grouse and quail. On Saturday we got 7 blues, 9 ruffs and 2 quail for 3 guns. Those sound like really awesome numbers but we did hunt really hard and all day long. Only went out for a little while this morning with a friend but we got 5 ruffs. Good dogs, good friends and a good trip. The area is still really dry and the ruffs at least were clustered around the creek bottoms. Found most of our blues along ridgetops at some of the higher elevations. Saw relatively few quail but all the coveys we did find were huge. Get some rain and it'll turn awesome. Hope the rest of you found a few.

Great report Birdhunter. That's a good area and I've hunted it for grouse, quail and turkeys. There were some big fires in that area about 10-15 years ago that should be great quail habitat about now.

Hey BH if you are going to be down there around Thanksgiving, let me know. My folks live out in Shady Cove and I usually make at least one trip down to Denman or the river for ducks.

Maybe we could hook up.

I am going to do some hunting in the tiller area next month...did you happen to see any turkeys??
