Rich's Gun shop in Donald for these reason professioal, courteous, approachable, informative, and outstanding work. I have little interest in going to gun smith shops (or other) where the guy behind the counter makes you feel like you are bothering them with your $$.

I have a 338-06 Ackley Imp. I would go with the standard 30-06 case if I built another one.
If you need to have more velocity go with a 338 Win. or 340 Wby.

If in the eugene/springfield area try Mazama Sporting goods. Decent shop plus good gunsmithing.

Tom Novotny [503.668.5061] is a gunsmith out in Sandy. He did some jewling work on my Ruger 7MM. Very detailed, well priced. [tell him, his welder sent you.]
Regards,
wetnet.

Is this is the same Novotny that used to do alot of work on silhouette guns back in the 80's? If so, he does good work.

My first choice would be Steve Kostanich (360) 748-0705. He builds some of the best bench rest rifles in the nation. He specializes in bench rest rifles, but does custom hunting rifles also. You might check with him and see what reamers he has for hunting calibers or you can buy your own reamer and have him do the work. He has even built several bench rest actions. Top quality work.
