Default Bobber Fishing Pink Worms?....

I've drift fished pink worms with great success but have never bobber fished with them. Do you:

 Fish them with a weighted jig head?
 With a long weighted leader?
 Or free floating?

Your input is greatly appreciated...

I've threaded them on a bare jighead and I've also added them to a jig. Either way will work well. I've never heard of free floating them or running them free under a weight.

I fish them with a feathered jig. The Berkley 4" Steelhead Crawler is my favorite in pink, methiolate (reddish),black and black with chartreuse tail.
Go to First Cast Jigs website under the "How to Tips" section where Mark shows how he fishes them.
Good Luck!

You can rig them on a jighead (as many I-fishers do) or you you can thread them on a leader (as the Canadians do  ). Both methods work fine.

You should see the looks I get  when I start casting a threaded upside down worm that is dangling under a float! Use a few split shot about 18" up the leader to get it down into the strike zone.

Hi Boat Monkey,
I just tried that this weekend, you can see my recent post about what to do with the hookset? Maybe I'm trying something new?

I seemed to get pretty good action, but the hook set delimna may be a problem. I used a standard slip float, and I added a split shot about 6" above the worm to keep it down.

It would be interesting to hear if others have done this.

Thanks guys. I'm attempting to add the picture from first cast jigs. Not what I was expecting (thought it would be straight,) but whatever works - eh?

You can run them on a standard drift fishing set up under your bobber with 24 to 30 inches of leader. Set you bobber so you are barely ticking the bottom. I like to use the smallest bobber and the lightest piece of lead you can get away with and still feel the bottom. Basically you are drift fishing the worm through your bobber. You get the best of both worlds...the visual take of your bobber going under and the physical feel of the take through the bobber. Try it you'll like it. Good luck!

The picture Boat monkey put up is how I like to fish the pink worm on a jig under a float. I used to run the worm straight out the back but occasionally I'd miss a short strike. Since I started to thread the worm at a 90 degree angle it has practically eliminated the short bites.

Since that picture was taken I now use about a 1/2" less worm so it rides straight up and down extending just above the hook point. Most takes are vicious and with the Owner jig hooks the hookset is solid. If you get a hook into em, you got em.
