Default Got Chrome?(pics)

This summer hatchery fish was caught on a pink JIG, an 11' noodle rod and 6lb leader!!! I caught it on friday of last week, but didnt get the pics until yesterday.

It was my second jig and bobber outing...I have flyfished all my life and this is my biggest steelie ever...

The fish took the jig right after the sun went down...

Thank you First Cast Jigs for tying such beautiful jigs....they are basically really nice flies, with super sharp hooks.

I kept this fish because my pastor said if I caught a large salmon or steelie he would give it to the needy kids/families at our church...otherwise I would have let this beautiful fish go.

Nice one!

And I must agree - A jig is just a big upside-down bead head marabou streamer... or is a bead-head streamer just and upside-down jig?

It's a steelhead. The tail and anal fin are distinctly steelhead on this fish.

Chris- the picture is a little dark, but I think what says steelie on this fish to me is the flat tail, as opposed to a nook, which will have a v in the tail. Nice fish!

Congradulations, a magnificent speciman! That is really a beauty, that certainly tested your metal!

PS: If it was me, I would have eaten it, to make sure it went to good use, or given it to my for-sure fish eating friends, or with no options left, released it! It is hard for me to buy the theory that needy kid's are hungry enough to eat fish at that young age! Maybe I am wrong.. . Why didn't you it eat?...............L

Yes, an intersting looking fish, Large mouth and jaws like a salmon, but a tail ,color and shape of a buck steelhead. Fish are like people they come in different shapes and sizes.
