Default Saw an Elk Cow at Scoggins...

...(Hagg Lake)on Tuesday. is that a normal hunting zone during the season? I normally do not see elk around, just deer.

I never knew there was such a thing as an "elf cow"

There used to be a herd of about 60 that hung out on one of my teacher's property there. He said I could come by and harvest one during season, but it doesn't seem too sporty to me. I could be wrong but I think there is some timber land in there you can hunt.

The lake and park properties are closed to hunting and so is the fields behind the mill. Stimpson has a tree farm that they open for elk hunting and they do take some out each year. Entry is controlled and you can't camp on Stimpson property. There used to be some roads at the west end of the lake that took you up towards the backside of Beaver Dam Road and a couple others, but they may have been locked due to garbage dumping.

About 20 years ago, I use to hunt elk and deer in that area with a ton of success.

Oops! Yes, that is indeed ELK and not ELF. Please leave the elves in peace. We need our Keebler cookies.
