Default Hunting Ukiah

Has anyone hunted in Ukiah this year? I will be hunting first rifle season there, and this will be my first time to this unit. It will also be the first time back to a rifle after nine years of bow hunting.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Returned from Ukiah area last Friday and have never seen so few Elk. Our Archery hunting group normally gets close to 20% success ratio, but this year it is a big 0 so far. Don't know the reason. One factor may be predation, as we have never seen so many Bear. 2 killed so far this season out of our camp, which is 2 more than normal. We were in the North Fork john Day Wilderness area.

Same story for deer I'm afraid. The ridge and bowl I usually see tons of deer was running at about 15-20% of normal. However I did see more deer the last day I was there so maybe they're just late getting to that area???
Are you going for deer or elk?
