Default Bad looking Bass

I caught about a 3 lb LM bass in a small lake last night that had a huge red lesion on the underside of the mouth stomach....wish I had a pic, but I didn't have a camera on me. Some sort of bacteria infection or something? Anyone seen this? I C&R so I'm not worried about eating it, but I'm still curious what it was!

One word answers that question. "Spawning"

I could swore it was a male...if that has anything to do with it, but I'm no expert.

Male or female, fighting for spots to bed down AND just fighting any old thing bass will be really agressive right now through the end of spawn
