Default help

OK, all you hunters, I need some help with our hunting section, which publishes Sept. 15.

I'm not sure yet, but if it's a stand-alone section, I usually run a single-column feature that's a ripoff of The Edge in the newspaper's daily living section. I call mine The Point.

But I need some material...it needs to be local (in Oregon), tasteful (sorry) but it IS about hunting, and it needs to be very unusual...any strange stories out there?

So far all I have is a possible new world record elk out of Finley refuge that will be denied because it was in velvet and...because of all the big bulls being grown on the refuge and shot on perimeter lands the area is getting a national reputation. A caller got in touch a while ago with the biologist and said he had a pack string of horses, was ready to find one of those trophy bulls and what could the bio tell him about benton county?

Surely there are some more bizarre chuckles out there...

Naturally, I'd like to talk with you, so feel free to leave a telephone number at either my email at home (nwbill@aol.com) or work (billmonroe@news.oregonian.com) or call work at 221-8231 or 888-222-8231.

anyone?

Thanks
Bill Monroe

PS...If it turns out I can't use it, I'll still get some good stories and can make a column out of your strange doings...
