Default shad from a boat

One of my favorite things about fishing for shad is that I can fish for them with minimum light gear and have a great time. I don't have to mess with lots of lead, divers etc. to get into them. This is while fishing in some spots from the bank. Just cast out a shad dart or dick nite spoon let it swing, slow it down at the apex by letting some more line out and whamo!

But I want to expand my possibilities.
It seems that I should be able to go out in the boat, anchor up, and find a good seam where they are running, and fish as I did from the bank with the cast and swing method.

Any thoughts?

thats the fun thing about fishing...try what you think might work. Then report back on what did and what didn't. I think giving your method a try might be a fun, different way of catching......

Pursue this wonderful experience on light tackle. My favorite way to do this is on a a fly rod at OC Falls! Take your kids!................L

I was thinking the same, as I introd myself before I'm a pretty avid shad-fisher and that's due to the uniqueness it takes to fish for shad on the bank.
I guess if you fish for them on a boat and start reeling outward = less rock-fishing? So you could ditch the crowd and get yourself + family some solitary time, right?

Another thing,
-location: clack park
-question: could I take a boat over to the island in the middle of the river and fish from there? Is it trespassing or public land?
